Eugene Starks Roberts, Sr. has been a follower of Jesus Christ for many years. He has also been an avid believer in helping those less fortunate. He is taking on the arduous task of running across America to share his faith in Christ, raise money for the homeless, cancer research, and diabetes research. He has had a genuine love for running most of his life.

In 1967 Gene met his wife, Marian Alicia, and they were married December 15, 1967. They have three girls, Cherie, Lawana, Bonita, and one son, Eugene Jr. They now have 11 grandchildren.
